Help to build....“KERSHAW'S WALK”....at St. Marys Way, Oldham. Each year, Dr. Kershaw’s Hospice has to look at ways in which to raise funds, to cover the running costs of this very special place. Thanks to a wonderful initiative from Contour Homes & Architects Nicol Thomas, we hope the latest project will be a valuable way of raising funds for patient care and provide a considerable boost to our fundraising efforts for 2012/13. Currently the Hospice running costs are £1.7million per year. As many people will know, the gardens at Dr. Kershaw’s are wonderful however, we don’t have any significant area in which to build or create an engraved pathway. With your help we would like to build a permanent walkway on the new St. Marys Way development in the centre of Oldham. The development is due to be completed in the Autumn of 2012, however, to secure the full pathway, we need to sell 3,000 granite stones with the first 500 being released for sale from January 2012. STONE INFORMATION The grey granite stone measures 20cm x 20cm, and can be engraved with your name, company, message or celebration of someone special. We have displayed 2 examples (below) to give you an indication of the type of message you may like to submit: whether it is for a birthday, anniversary, wedding, birth of a baby, an individual person’s name, company name or simply showing your support to a sports team. With the development being in a housing complex we would politely request that messages are not of a memorial nature but more of a dedication.
PLACING YOUR ORDER AND COSTS Please click here to download an order form and complete the template section. When you purchase a granite stone, you can include one line of text of up to 14 characters (including spaces). The cost per stone is £50.00 which includes one line of text, with any additional lines up to a maximum of 6, charged at £15.00 per line i.e.:
Upon receipt, you will have up to 7 days in which you can make any changes to your order. Please contact the Appeals Team at the Hospice on 0161 624 9984 or Email appeals@drkershawshospice.org.uk After this period of time, we will submit your order form direct to the stone engravers, and at this stage, no changes can be made. Please check your order carefully before sending to the Hospice, as we cannot be held responsible for any errors made at the time of placing the order. At the time of placing the order, please include full payment for the stone/s payable to Dr. Kershaw’s Hospice. The preferred ways of payment are by cheque or cash. To start the first phase of “Kershaw’s Walk”, we need to receive a minimum of 500 orders. If this amount has not been reached by May 2012, we will advise you, when your monies will be refunded, unless you choose to use it to support another fundraising project at Dr. Kershaw’s. The first phase of the pathway is due to be laid during the period March – May 2012, however, the development will not be complete and due to open for viewing until October/November 2012. Please note, “Kershaw’s Walk” is situated between Mackintosh Way & St. Mary’s Way and will not be visible on a street map as “Kershaw’s Walk”.

If you are unable to make the date, you will be free to visit the dedication pathway at anytime of your choice once it is officially open.
