cover for the Hospice is provided by a team of Hospital Consultants
lead by the Medical Director who is a retired Consultant Anaesthetist
accredited in Palliative Medicine. Week-day cover is provided by an
experienced Associate Specialist.
The NHS Pain Clinic operates from the Hospice. Clinics are held each week-day and palliative care patients have priority access to the clinics for advice and symptom control. The Consultant Anaesthetists who run the Pain Clinic are voluntary members of the medical team and take part in the on-call rota which provides 24 hour cover 7 days per week. The
medical team have adopted the North West Palliative Care Physicians
“Guidelines for Symptom Control” as a basis for clinical
practice. |
