Volunteering_ Overview

‘What are we here for if not to make life less difficult for each other’ George Elliot

Volunteers are an integral part of the team at Dr Kershaw’s Hospice. Our volunteers offer their services and time without hesitation and show a commitment that goes beyond any other.

Whilst the nursing, administration, and housekeeping staff perform the essential tasks at the hospice the volunteers provide the icing on the cake. They contribute to the quality and care for the patients, carers and families in many ways. They help to create a friendly, relaxed environment which can lessen the initial apprehension felt by many people upon entering the hospice for the first time.

Who can volunteer?

Anyone aged over sixteen who is willing to give up some of their spare time: as little as two hours or more per week. No formal qualifications are needed, just a desire to help make life better for others.

The only restriction is that prospective volunteers have not suffered a close bereavement within the last two years.
