| Referrals
for hospice admission are accepted from General Practitioners and
Hospital Consultants. The Hospice provides a palliative care service
for patients suffering non-curable life-threatening illnesses together
with support and counselling for patients’ relatives and carers.
In general, referrals are accepted for patients resident within the
boundary of Oldham and its surrounding districts although a small
percentage of admissions (12.5%) are from outside the immediate area.
The population served by the Hospice is 230,000. |
