| The
Hospice operates a sensitive resuscitation policy.
During the terminal stage of illness
ethical medical opinion is that attempted resuscitation is inappropriate.
Should a patient in reasonable health
suffer an acute unexpected collapse then, unless directions have
been otherwise given by the patient, basic resuscitation will be
given and, if necessary, transfer to hospital arranged. The Hospice
does not possess the facilities for advanced cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.
The
written policy is available on demand and can be discussed by request
with the Medical Director or Matron.
